Synodical Committees

The following is a list of some of the committees of our church along with what they do.

Congregational Aid Fund

Instruction of the Young

Financial Advisory

Congregational Aid Fund

The majority of congregations in the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Ireland are able to pay in full the salary of their minister, together with all other running expenses, as well as contribute to other funds within the denomination.

However as there are a few congregations where the number of members is small, and further as our Church considers it important that a Reformed Covenanting witness is maintained where practical, they receive financial support from the Congregational Aid Fund.

The object of the Fund (as set out in our Church code) is :–

  • to assist where necessary in providing Gospel ordnance’s for congregations and supplies for societies and preaching stations.
  • to supplement the salary paid to a minister whose income from congregational funds falls below the amount fixed by Synod as the minimum for the year.

Instruction of the Young Committee

The Instruction of the young Committee exists to assist in the Biblical instruction and training of the young people within the denomination. The Committee has produced its own materials for teaching different age groups. The courses are as follows:-
Primary : approx 7 – 9 years
Junior : approx 10 – 12 years
Intermediate : approx 13 – 15
Senior : approx 16 – 19
Each course is designed to be covered in a three year period, with 36 lessons being covered in each year.

Financial Advisory Committee

The Financial Advisory Committee was established to:

  • Provide advice on financial matters to Synod, Presbyteries and Congregations
  • Examine developments in financial regulations likely to impact on the work of the church on a year to year basis with a view to advising congregational treasurers.
